Gay Marriage Ban Tossed in California

On November 5, 2008, Proposition 8 was passed – 52% to 48% – by voters in California. For anyone who isn’t familiar with Prop 8, it’s the “gay marriage ban.” With the passage of Prop 8, serious issues concerning the Equal Protection and Due Process clauses of the Constitution, specifically the 14th Amendment, started arising and stirring up much controversy.
